Baramulla, Nov 19: Police today arrested twelve individuals for their alleged involvement in illegal gambling activities in Baramulla district. The arrests were made during a raid conducted by local police teams following credible inputs about the operation.
Officials confirmed that stake money amounting to several lakhs of rupees, along with multiple vehicles used by the accused, were seized during the operation. The police stated that the crackdown was part of ongoing efforts to curb unlawful activities and maintain public order in the district.
According to sources, the arrested individuals were found engaged in gambling at a private location. The police recovered incriminating material from the spot, including cash and other items linked to the gambling racket.
A case under relevant sections of law has been registered, and further investigation is underway to identify additional persons involved in the network. Authorities emphasized that strict action will continue against those indulging in illegal gambling and related activities.
