PDP leader Iltija Mufti has lodged a police complaint against a man identified as Nitish Kumar, accusing him of pulling a woman’s ‘naqab’ in an incident that has triggered widespread outrage. Describing the act as deeply offensive and disrespectful, Mufti said such behaviour amounts to harassment and an attack on a woman’s dignity.
In her complaint, Iltija Mufti stressed that forcibly interfering with a woman’s attire is unacceptable and reflects a disturbing mindset. She called for strict action against the accused, stating that no individual has the right to police or violate a woman’s personal choices.
The PDP leader also appealed to the authorities to take the matter seriously and ensure that those responsible are held accountable under the law. She said incidents like these create fear and insecurity among women and must be dealt with firmly to prevent their recurrence.
