Srinagar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a five-day weather advisory for several districts of Jammu Division, predicting cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers from September 7 to 11.
According to the IMD bulletin, districts including Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur, Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban are likely to receive intermittent rainfall during this period. Heavy showers are expected at isolated places in Jammu, Kathua and Udhampur on September 7, particularly in the evening and night, which may lead to localized flooding or landslides in hilly areas.
For Jammu district, cloudy conditions with light to moderate rain are likely on September 7 and 8, followed by partly cloudy weather with occasional showers from September 9 onwards. Similar forecasts apply to Kathua and Udhampur, with the possibility of heavy rain in some areas on September 7 and 8.
In Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban, generally cloudy skies with light to moderate showers are expected on September 7 and 8, while weather conditions may improve from September 9 to 11 with partly cloudy skies.
Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable and hilly regions to stay alert as heavy rainfall could cause waterlogging, road blockades or mudslides. Travelers on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway and interior routes have been advised to plan journeys cautiously and follow official updates.
Farmers have also been cautioned to safeguard standing crops against water stagnation and soil erosion, while locals and tourists have been asked to avoid riverbanks, streams and unstable slopes until the weather stabilizes.
The IMD said it is closely monitoring the situation and will issue further advisories if there are significant changes in the forecast.
