New Delhi, December 1 — The Government of India has successfully evacuated the last batch of stranded citizens from Sri Lanka, concluding a major humanitarian operation and intensifying relief efforts for those affected by the crisis.
Officials said special flights and naval vessels were deployed to bring back Indian nationals from Colombo and other affected areas. The evacuation was carried out in coordination with Sri Lankan authorities, ensuring safe passage for all citizens.
External Affairs Ministry sources confirmed that hundreds of evacuees have now returned home, with medical assistance, counselling, and rehabilitation support being extended to them upon arrival. Relief camps have been set up to provide food, shelter, and essential supplies.
Authorities emphasised that India remains committed to supporting Sri Lanka during this difficult period, with humanitarian aid including medicines, food grains, and emergency equipment being dispatched. Disaster response teams are also assisting in relief operations on the ground.
The successful evacuation marks the conclusion of a critical phase of India’s humanitarian outreach, underscoring the government’s commitment to the safety and welfare of its citizens abroad.
