VISAKHAPATNAM: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday said India is currently negotiating free trade agreements with several countries, including the US, European Union, New Zealand, Oman, Peru and Chile.
He added that the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) is open to collaborating with the Andhra Pradesh government to develop a world-class convention centre — Andhra Mandapam — on the lines of Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam.
Goyal stressed that reducing global trade barriers would facilitate the free flow of goods, services and capital. India has already implemented FTAs with the UAE, Australia and the four-nation EFTA bloc.
“At present, we are in talks with the EU, US, Oman, New Zealand, Chile and Peru, with many more countries eager to begin negotiations,” he said at the CII Partnership Summit 2025.
To further improve ease of doing business, he noted that the Centre has scrapped 1,500 laws and removed about 42,000 compliances.
