India has concluded a ₹7,995 crore agreement with the United States to provide five-year sustainment support for the Indian Navy’s MH-60R Seahawk helicopter fleet.
The contract includes provisioning of spares and support equipment, product support, training and technical assistance, repair and replenishment of components, and establishment of in-country Intermediate-level component repair and Periodic Maintenance Inspection facilities.
This arrangement will ensure high availability and mission readiness of the MH-60R fleet for anti-submarine warfare, search and rescue, maritime surveillance, and other multi-mission operations.
By establishing maintenance and repair capabilities in India, the agreement strengthens self-reliance, reduces turnaround times, and enhances lifecycle support for advanced rotary-wing assets.
The MH-60R Seahawk, manufactured by Lockheed Martin, is an all-weather, multi-mission maritime helicopter equipped with advanced sensors and avionics. India procured 24 MH-60R helicopters in 2020 under the US Foreign Military Sales program.
This agreement reinforces defence cooperation between India and the United States and supports the objective of building robust, in-country sustainment ecosystems for critical platforms.
