New Delhi, December 1 — The Indian Air Force (IAF) has successfully evacuated more than 300 Indian nationals stranded in Sri Lanka following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah, officials confirmed today.

Special IAF aircraft were deployed to Colombo and other affected areas to bring back citizens who had been stranded due to disrupted transport and communication links. The evacuation was carried out in close coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs and Sri Lankan authorities.

Officials said the evacuees were provided immediate medical assistance, food, and shelter upon arrival in India. Relief camps have been set up to support returnees, while counselling and rehabilitation measures are being extended to affected families.

The IAF operation forms part of India’s wider humanitarian outreach, which includes dispatching relief materials such as medicines, food grains, and emergency supplies to cyclone-hit regions of Sri Lanka. Disaster response teams have also been mobilised to assist local authorities in relief and recovery efforts.

Authorities emphasised that the evacuation underscores India’s commitment to the safety of its citizens abroad and its solidarity with Sri Lanka during this crisis.
