TEHRAN: The Indian Embassy in Iran has urged its citizens to reconsider non-essential travel to the country due to the evolving security situation in the region.
In an advisory posted on X, the embassy stated, “In view of the security-related developments over the past several weeks, Indian nationals are advised to carefully assess the situation before undertaking non-essential travel to Iran.”
The embassy also recommended that Indian citizens currently in Iran stay updated on regional developments and follow the latest advisories issued by Indian authorities.
“For those already in Iran and wishing to leave, commercial flights and ferry services are currently available,” the advisory added.
This caution comes amid rising tensions following Israel’s launch of “Operation Rising Lion” last month, targeting Iranian assets. The conflict intensified after Iran launched retaliatory airstrikes on Israel and a U.S. military base in Qatar. In response, the U.S. carried out strikes on three locations in Iran, aligning itself with Israel’s stated goal of dismantling Iran’s nuclear program—a claim Tehran continues to deny.
The 12-day conflict came to a halt after U.S. President Donald Trump declared a unilateral ceasefire from the Israeli side. Israel has maintained that its military campaign, which began on June 13, is aimed at preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
