Indian Army Celebrated World Environment Day at Poonch, Rajouri & Reasi

Poonch, Rajouri & Reas: The Indian Army, in a heartening display of environmental consciousness and community engagement, organised Tree Plantation Drive at Dabbar Potha, Channi Prat, Sagra, Kotranka, chasana, Kalal of Poonch, Rajouri and Reasi district on World Envionment Day. The event was held to support land restoration and prevent desertification, reinforcing the urgent need to heal and preserve our ecosystems. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local villagers, panchayat members and school children. Together, over 230 saplings of diverse species including native shade-giving trees, medicinal plants and fruit bearing trees were planted. The saplings were selected keeping in mind the local soil conditions and ecological requirements, ensuring their sustainability and long-term growth. In addition to planting trees, the event also included an awareness session on environmental conservation.

The event highlighted the importance of tree plantation in combating climate change, conserving biodiversity and maintaining ecological balance, thereby reiterating Indian Army’s longstanding commitment not only to national security but also to environmental stewardship and social responsibility. A total of 535 individuals participated in the event. The teachers, students and villagers expressed their appreciation for the Indian Army’s proactive role in community development. The Indian Army’s initiative was a morale booster and a reminder of the importance of joint efforts in addressing global environmental challenges at the local level. The plantation drive is a testament to Indian Army’s enduring connection with the people and its dedication to preserving the natural heritage of the nation.
