Indian Army Conducts Awareness Lecture on Drug Abuse

Poonch & Rajouri : The Indian Army conducted an insightful lecture on the critical issue of drug abuse, aimed at educating the public, especially youth, about its detrimental effects at Sial Sul and Batsiyala. The event was conducted as part of the Indian Army’s community outreach initiative to promote a healthy and disciplined lifestyle while raising awareness about the physical, psychological, and social harm caused by substance abuse.

The session began with an overview of drug abuse, highlighting the types of commonly abused substances such as alcohol, tobacco, cannabis and synthetic drugs. The students were explained the mechanisms by which these substances affect the brain and body, leading to addiction and long-term health complications. The lecture underscored the severe consequences of drug addiction, including mental health issues like depression and anxiety, physical ailments such as liver damage and respiratory problems and the breakdown of personal relationships.

The event also discussed the ripple effect of drug abuse on society, including increased crime rates and economic losses. Special attention was given to the factors contributing to drug abuse, such as peer pressure, stress, lack of awareness, and easy availability of substances. The Indian Army highlighted the importance of addressing these root causes to curb the problem. The lecture emphasized the significance of early intervention and preventive strategies, including Educating individuals about the dangers of drug use through schools, colleges, and community programs. Encouraging open communication within families and communities to identify and help vulnerable individuals.

The role of strict enforcement of anti-drug laws and regulations in reducing substance availability and the role of locals in helping the security forces to help catch the individuals involved in these activities. The Indian Army also highlighted the importance of rehabilitation for those battling addiction. The lecture provided information on available support systems, helplines, and rehabilitation centers that assist individuals in overcoming addiction and reintegrating into society. The lecture concluded with a motivational message for the youth to stay away from drugs and contribute positively to society. The Indian Army urged the community to actively participate in creating a drug-free environment by reporting illegal activities and supporting awareness campaigns.
