Rajouri: The Indian Army conducted a Cricket Tournament for boys from Rajouri at Kotranka from 23rd December 2024 to 29th December 2024. The main objective of this event was to positively engage the youth, promote a healthy lifestyle, and encourage physical fitness.
The cricket matches were played in T-10 format for youths under 19 years old from local schools. This tournament also aimed at fostering cohesiveness among the youth of the area and building on the already existing cordial relationship with the Indian Army.
A total of four teams from local schools participated in the competition, and the matches were conducted on a league basis. All participating teams displayed great enthusiasm and sportsmanship during the competition, and the spectators’ enthusiasm was extraordinary. After the league stage and semi-finals, the two best teams reached the final. In a thrilling final match between High Secondary School Budhal and Government Degree College Kotranka, High Secondary School Budhal emerged as the winner and lifted the winner’s trophy. Such positive engagement diverts curious young minds from getting involved in issues related to drug abuse, unlawful activities, and channels the energy of the youth in a positive direction.
It boosts competitive skills and helps them resist falling into the traps of anti-national and anti-social elements. The conduct of this cricket competition at Kotranka will motivate the youth to keep themselves fit.The youth and locals of the area expressed their sincere thanks and gratitude towards the Indian Army for conducting the cricket tournament and taking this noble initiative towards effective youth engagement.
