Poonch: With the aim of providing basic medical facilities to the people residing in remote areas of Marha village (Bafliaz), the Indian Army organized a free medical camp for Gujjar and Bakkarwals on 30th December 2024 at Marha village (Bafliaz), Poonch district. Indian Army medical representatives, along with medical staff, were present to assist the patients.
The medical camp was organized to help the local populace lead a normal and healthy life, which is otherwise challenging due to the terrain and weather conditions. Free health checkups and medicines were provided to the patients by the military doctor.
The medical staff offered consultation, vaccination, and medicines to ensure that the people could avail themselves of medical treatment benefits. A total of 59 people (13 females, 37 males, and 9 children) from Marha village and nearby areas received the required consultation, vaccination, and medicines. Additionally, a lecture on immunization, family planning, and healthcare for children was organized during this medical camp to spread awareness among the people in remote regions regarding preventive measures for common diseases, hygiene and sanitation, and their symptoms. The lecture also emphasized the importance of good eating habits, a balanced diet, and maintaining personal hygiene and sanitation to increase happiness and well-being among the gathering. This gesture and effort by the Indian Army were highly appreciated by the community.
The Indian Army’s endeavor to reach out to the population residing in remote areas, where civil administration has limited accessibility, will go a long way in developing and pstrengthening the trust between the JAWAN and the AWAM. The event also served as a platform to strengthen the bond between the Army and the people of this region. It showcased the Indian Army’s commitment to serving the nation.
