Poonch: The Indian Army conducted a medical camp at Sangla, Poonch, aimed at providing essential primary healthcare services to the residents of Sangla and nearby villages in the Pir Panjal ranges.

This population primarily consists of the migratory Gujjar and Bakkarwal communities. Known for its poor road infrastructure and lack of basic medical facilities, Sangla faces significant challenges in accessing healthcare.

The primary focus of the camp was to reach out to the Gujjar and Bakkarwal communities residing in the area and in the dhoks. During the camp, general health check-ups were conducted and free medicines were distributed to the villagers.

This initiative sought to ensure the health and well-being of the local population by making healthcare more accessible. The villagers expressed heartfelt gratitude for the care and attention they received. The presence of a Lady Nursing Officer was particularly appreciated by the female attendees, who felt more comfortable discussing their health concerns. Previously hesitant to share their issues with male doctors, many women were able to address core healthcare problems that had long been neglected.

This effort highlights the Indian Army’s commitment to community welfare and was widely appreciated by those in attendance, further strengthening the Army’s image as a nation-building force. A total of 347 local residents benefited from this initiative.
