Rajouri: The Indian Army extended healthcare services to the remote parts of Rajouri district through a mobile medical patrol in the village of Sichka to address the medical needs of the locals, as well as the Gujjar and Bakkarwals in the area.
The inhabitants of this region, often cut off from mainstream healthcare facilities due to their isolated geographic location and challenging terrain, greatly benefited from this initiative, which contributed to their overall well-being. These communities often suffer from disparities in healthcare, leading to higher morbidity and mortality rates. The mobile medical patrol, equipped with essential medical supplies and services, reached these areas to provide healthcare with compassion for local villagers, as well as Gujjar and Bakkarwals.
The primary objective was to offer on-the-spot medical care and check-ups, including basic health assessments, treatment of common ailments, and distribution of necessary medicines. The team also focused on preventive healthcare by providing immunizations and disseminating information about hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention. The response from the local population has been overwhelmingly positive.
The community expressed deep gratitude for the Army’s initiative, which brought much-needed medical services directly to their doorsteps, with a special focus on women’s healthcare. Beyond the immediate medical benefits, the mobile medical patrol also played a crucial role in building and strengthening the relationship between the Indian Army and the local communities. A total of 37 villagers (22 males, 9 females, and 6 children) benefited from the mobile medical patrol.
