Poonch : The Indian Army has always been “true to its commitment” to providing a helping hand to empower women in the far-flung areas of the state. In continuation of the same spirit, the Indian Army has conducted “Stitching & Tailoring Classes for Women” to empower them with vocational skills at Village Haribudha under the Operation Sadbhavana Project.

As part of the Operation Sadbhavana initiative, the Indian Army has planned to conduct “Stitching & Tailoring Classes for Women” at Haribudha to provide skill development opportunities for the women of the area. A total of 10 women have been selected for the said classes. The selected women will be trained by a local female instructor, assisting them in gaining employment. As part of these classes, the Indian Army has provided five sewing machines, among other facilities. This pedagogical project is a leap of faith aimed at empowering these women.

The inauguration was highlighted by the presence of the local Sarpanch and witnessed healthy participation from the villagers, primarily women. Speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony, the locals stated that this effort by the Indian Army would bring greater communal and social harmony to the region.

They also expressed that the women of this underdeveloped, remote area are looking forward to becoming self-reliant and are striving hard to improve their families’ quality and standard of life. The villagers present at the event conveyed their gratitude for this enterprising initiative, which provides a positive environment for unemployed women to pursue a line of profession with better opportunities and hope for a brighter and more prosperous future.
