Poonch: An exhibition badminton match was conducted to mark the inauguration of the renovated Indoor Cultural cum Sports Complex (Sadbhavna Hall) at Degree College, Poonch. The inauguration was done by Brigade Commander, Poonch Brigade and Mr Jasbir Singh, Principal Degree College, Poonch in the presence of senior civil and military dignitaries. The event was attended by DDC Chairperson Ms. Tazeem Akhter, Deputy Commissioner Shri Vikas Kundal, SSP Shri Shafaqat Hussain and renowned media personnel. The match featured enthusiastic participation from college students and NCC cadets, reflecting the spirit of youth engagement and sportsmanship. Originally constructed in 2006 under the initiative of the Poonch Brigade, Sadbhavna Hall has served as a key venue for cultural and community activities.
Given its location in the heart of Poonch city and the increasing needs of the student community, the requirement for renovation was clearly felt. Renovation work was undertaken by the Poonch Brigade since February 2025 and damage sustained during Operation Sindoor in May 2025 was also restored during the process. The hall now stands revitalised as a modern, multi-purpose indoor facility dedicated to promoting sports, fitness and constructive youth engagement. This initiative reflects the Indian Army’s continued commitment to fostering civil-military cooperation and supporting local development. The efforts were well appreciated by all present.
