Rajouri : Keeping in view the Indian Army’s core objective of maintaining cordial relations with local citizens through AWAM, the Indian Army organized a “Lecture on the Bad Effects of Tobacco” to spread awareness among the younger generation as well as the local populace regarding the harmful effects of tobacco.
This lecture helped promote and spread knowledge about best practices to boost physical and mental well-being among the local people of all age groups in Hasplot (Maniyal). A total of 68 people attended the lecture, including 15 men, three women and 50 children. During this event, a representative of the Indian Army briefed the children and youth about tobacco, which has become a common substance these days, with many young people destroying their lives by getting addicted. This addiction leads to irreversible damage to the lungs, heart, and other vital organs. It also causes behavioral changes. Tobacco impacts the brain, which can lead to depression, conduct problems, personality disorders, and other serious health risks, including respiratory problems and an increased risk of cancer. The children were advised to pursue their goals in their respective fields and contribute to the environment, society, and the country as responsible citizens. The invitees were motivated and assured of all possible guidance and assistance from the Indian Army for their future endeavors. This gesture and effort by the Army were highly appreciated by the AWAM. The Army’s endeavor to reach out to the population residing in remote areas, where civil administration has limited accessibility, will go a long way in developing and strengthening trust between the JAWAN and the AWAM. The event also served as a platform to strengthen the bond between the Army and the people of this region, showcasing the Army’s commitment to serving the nation.
