Rajouri: In a remarkable display of timely and efficient medical assistance, the Indian Army’s medical team responded to a medical emergency involving a 17-year-old civilian female traveling from Shopian to Rajouri.
The patient, identified as Sonna, was brought to KM 28 Post exhibiting symptoms of breathlessness, anxiety, and a semi-conscious state. Upon arrival, the Army medical team immediately assessed the situation and found that the patient’s vital signs were critically unstable, with a low oxygen saturation level (SpO₂ of 86%), low blood pressure (90/69 mmHg), and an increased respiratory rate (138/min). Her random blood sugar level was also recorded at 124 mg/dL. The team quickly initiated emergency measures, administering high-flow oxygen support, intravenous hydrocortisone, pantoprazole, and lorazepam, as well as providing a 500 ml infusion of normal saline.
These interventions stabilized the patient’s vital signs, including pulse and blood pressure, while her drowsy and semi-conscious state improved with the treatment. Once the patient’s condition stabilized, she was safely shifted to Chandimal Hospital for further evaluation and continued medical care. This prompt response and the Army’s swift intervention played a vital role in saving the life of the young civilian, demonstrating the Indian Army’s dedication to supporting and caring for civilians in distress, even in the most challenging circumstances.
