Indian Army’s Lt Gen Sengupta Calls on Chief of Nepal Army

Lieutenant General Sengupta of the Indian Army called on General Prabhu Ram Sharma, Chief of Army Staff of the Nepal Army, in Kathmandu. The meeting reaffirmed the longstanding defence cooperation and historical ties between the two armies.

Officials stated that discussions focused on strengthening military-to-military engagement, including training programmes, joint exercises, and capacity-building initiatives. Both sides emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to enhance regional security and stability.

The interaction highlighted the tradition of camaraderie between the Indian and Nepalese armed forces, rooted in shared history and cultural bonds. The visit was described as part of ongoing efforts to consolidate defence relations between the two countries.

General Sharma expressed appreciation for India’s support in training and capacity development, while Lt Gen Sengupta reiterated India’s commitment to working closely with Nepal in areas of mutual interest.

The meeting concluded with both leaders underscoring the importance of sustained dialogue and cooperation to promote peace and strengthen bilateral defence ties.
