The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has sent a 23-member Indian boxing squad to Manama, Bahrain, for the 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025, taking place from October 23 to 30. The contingent will compete across 14 weight divisions—seven each for boys and girls—in the U-17 category.
The team recently concluded a high-intensity training camp at NS NIS Patiala, held from September 23 to October 20, which focused on improving technical skills, tactical awareness, and physical conditioning. The camp was led by Head Coaches Vinod Kumar (Boys U-17) and Jitender Raj Singh (Girls U-17), supported by six assistant coaches, two physiotherapists, and a doctor, as per a BFI press release.
Selections were based on performances at the 6th U-17 Junior Boys & Girls National Boxing Championships 2025. Gold medalists earned direct berths, while silver medalists were named as reserves. The squad also features several standout performers from the Asian U-17 Championships held in July, where India won 43 medals to finish second overall—an achievement that highlights the nation’s rising prominence in youth boxing.
“Our young boxers have shown remarkable growth over the past few months, proving their ability to compete with the best in Asia. Participation in the Asian Youth Games will be crucial for their development as future champions. They’ve worked extremely hard during the training camp, and we’re confident they’ll deliver strong performances in Bahrain,” said Ajay Singh, President of the Boxing Federation of India.
The lineup includes gold medalists Dhruv Kharb, Udham Singh Raghav, Khushi Chand, Ahaana Sharma, and Chandrika Bhoreshi Pujari—key contributors to India’s youth boxing success.
The boxing events will be held at Exhibition World Bahrain, Hall 9, featuring three-round bouts in a single-elimination format. Medal presentations are set for October 30, followed by the Closing Ceremony on October 31.
With a blend of emerging talent and proven performers, Team India is poised to make a strong statement in Bahrain, further strengthening the country’s growing dominance in Asian youth boxing.
