New Delhi: Ahead of India’s upcoming Test series against the West Indies, young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was named on TIME magazine’s prestigious “TIME100 Next” list on Wednesday, an accolade that recognises emerging leaders across diverse fields.

Sharing the news with his fans on X, Jaiswal wrote,
“What a time to witness! I am honoured to be recognised in the 2025 #TIME100NEXT list alongside leaders shaping the future across industries. It reminds me how far I’ve come and how much further I want to go.”

Earlier this year in August, Wisden included Jaiswal in its list of “The Best 40 Young Players in the World”, where he topped the chart, alongside another rising Indian talent in the top 10. The list, compiled by Wisden Cricket Monthly, evaluated players under 23 based on their performances and potential impact across all formats.

At just 23, Jaiswal has already become a key figure in India’s Test setup, amassing 2,209 runs in 24 Tests across 46 innings at an average of 50.20, including six centuries and 12 fifties. Equally adept in white-ball cricket, he has scored 723 runs in 23 T20Is at an average of 36.15, including a century and five fifties, with a strike rate exceeding 164. Though he has played only one ODI, his List-A average of 52.62 signals a promising future in the 50-over format, especially as the team looks beyond Rohit Sharma. With tours to Australia (391 runs) and England (411 runs), scoring centuries in both countries, Jaiswal is being touted as India’s next all-condition batter after Virat Kohli.

In the IPL, he has been a consistent performer for Rajasthan Royals, scoring 2,166 runs in 67 matches at an average of 34.38, with a strike rate above 152, including two centuries and 15 fifties, proving himself a valuable asset for the franchise.

Jaiswal will next take the field in the two-match Test series against the West Indies, starting Thursday, October 2, at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
