NEW DELHI: India’s vision now stretches well beyond 5G, with a goal of capturing 10 per cent of global 6G patents, while the satellite communications market is projected to triple by 2033, Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Wednesday.

Speaking at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025, Scindia said India has transitioned from being a technology follower to a global digital flagbearer. Highlighting the nation’s journey towards self-reliance, he remarked, “The day is not far when the world will say it depends on India.”

Calling for innovation rooted in India, he urged, “Design here, solve here, scale everywhere. India innovates, and the world transforms.”

Scindia noted that satellite communications are expanding connectivity “from land to sea to space.” The Satcom market—currently around USD 4 billion across telecom and broadcasting—is expected to soar to USD 15 billion by 2033, he said, emphasizing that “at the heart of this revolution lies our people… India will soon be the world’s largest digitally skilled workforce.”

Reaffirming India’s ambitions in next-generation connectivity, Scindia said the Bharat 6G Alliance is targeting 10 per cent of global 6G patents as international standards take shape.

He also highlighted the success of the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, saying it has led to ₹91,000 crore in new production, ₹18,000 crore in exports, and the creation of 30,000 new jobs.

“India today is a product nation—no longer just a service nation,” Scindia added.
