Jakarta, December 1 — The death toll from devastating floods in Indonesia has climbed to 442, with more than 400 people still reported missing, according to official disaster management authorities.

Heavy rains triggered flash floods and landslides across several provinces, submerging villages, destroying homes, and displacing thousands of residents. Rescue teams, supported by military and police personnel, continue to search for survivors amid difficult conditions.

Officials said relief operations are being intensified, with emergency shelters, food supplies, and medical assistance provided to affected communities. However, widespread damage to infrastructure has hampered access to remote areas, complicating rescue efforts.

The National Disaster Mitigation Agency confirmed that the floods have caused extensive agricultural losses and disrupted transport networks. International aid agencies have also pledged support to assist Indonesia in managing the humanitarian crisis.

Authorities urged residents in vulnerable regions to remain alert as heavy rainfall is forecast to continue in the coming days, raising concerns of further flooding and landslides.
