Jammu: Police on Wednesday arrested a notorious drug peddler near Katra in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district and recovered 21 grams of heroin along with ₹30,800 in cash.
The accused has been identified as Pawan Singh alias Pammi, a resident of Serbad village, who was apprehended in the Tarakote area, a police spokesperson said.
According to police, Singh is a habitual offender previously detained under the PIT-NDPS (Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act. He has been named in four FIRs under the NDPS Act and two daily diary entries since 2021.
Reasi Senior Superintendent of Police Paramvir Singh reaffirmed the department’s firm stance against narcotics, stating, “We are pursuing a zero-tolerance policy towards drug peddlers and repeat offenders. Public cooperation plays a crucial role in this fight.”
He also urged citizens to share any information related to drug trafficking or distribution so that stringent action can be taken against those involved.
