Indian Army celebrates Infantry Day at GDC Banihal, inspires youth to join Armed Forces

RAMBAN: The Indian Army on Tuesday organized a special event at Government Degree College (GDC) Banihal to commemorate Infantry Day and motivate young students to serve the nation by pursuing careers in the Armed Forces. The programme also aimed to create awareness about the Agnipath Scheme and various career opportunities available in the Indian Army, especially in officer ranks.

Officers from the local Army Battalion interacted with students and faculty, highlighting the historical significance of Infantry Day, which commemorates the bravery and sacrifices of infantry soldiers who defended Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistani intruders.

The event included motivational talks and interactive sessions on the objectives, benefits, and structure of the Agnipath Scheme, emphasizing discipline, service, and personal development. Students participated enthusiastically in the question–answer sessions, showing keen interest in joining the defence services.

The college principal and Army officials underscored the values of patriotism, selfless service, and the crucial role of youth in safeguarding the nation. The event concluded with a vote of thanks to the Indian Army for its ongoing efforts to nurture national pride and strengthen civil–military relations in Banihal.
