Interaction with Gujjars and Bakkarwals at Chamrer, Rajouri

Rajouri: Keeping in view of Indian Army’s core objective of maintaining cordial relations with local citizens Indian Army conducted an interaction cum Awareness for Gujjars and Bakkarwals at Chamrer. The aim of the interaction was to interact & educate Gujjar Bakkarwals on Forest Right Act (FRA), Dera Migration procedures and to facilitate mitigation of any hardship being faced by them. Interaction assisted in developing a deep understanding of each other’s customs and beliefs, leading to a harmonious coexistence. Pamphlets prepared for spreading awareness related to FRA were also distributed.

A total strength of 35 including (25 x Gujjar & Bakkarwals and ten Ladies) were present during the interaction. This gesture and effort by Indian Army was highly appreciated by AWAM.  This endeavor by Indian Army to reach out to the population residing in remote areas, where civil administration has limited accessibility, will go a long way in developing and strengthening trust between JAWAN and AWAM. The event also served as a platform to strengthen the bond between Indian Army and the people of this region. It showcased Indian Army’s commitment towards service to the nation.
