Interaction With Gujjars And Bakkarwals at Kesri Hill, Rajouri

Gujars & Bakkarwals being one of the pastoral communities in the AOR migrate to the higher reaches of valley in search of pastures for their livestock, as part of their customary migratory practices.

In continuation with the efforts to maintain connect with these tribes and with an aim to address their problems, Indian Army organised an interaction at Kesri Hill for Gujjars & Bakkarwals community. Gujjars & Bakkarwals, living in the remote villages of Kesri Hill participated in the event on 16 Sep 2024, wherein they were presented an opportunity to discuss the hardships and issues being faced by their community.



During the interaction the community was guided on women empowerment, importance of education to children and their future prospects and significance of skill development for better employment opportunities.

The community was assured that every help possible would be given to them as it is their contribution due to which peace and harmony is maintained in the region Gujjars & Bakkarwal community also shared their experiences of this region and committed their unflinching support and trust in the Indian army. A total of 45 persons attended the event.
