Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police has sought Interpol’s assistance to issue a Red Corner Notice against Qazigund-based Dr. Muzaffar in connection with the interstate “white-collar” terror module busted earlier this week, officials said on Thursday.

Dr. Muzaffar is the brother of Dr. Adeel, one of the eight people — including three doctors — arrested in the case linked to the Red Fort blast. Seven of those arrested are from Kashmir. His name emerged during the interrogation of the accused, who revealed that he was part of a team of doctors that travelled to Turkiye in 2021 with Muzammil Ganaie and Umar Nabi, the driver of the explosives-laden car that detonated outside the Red Fort on Monday, killing 13 people.

Police attempts to locate Muzaffar found that he had left India for Dubai in August and is currently believed to be in Afghanistan. The three doctors reportedly spent 21 days in Turkiye.

On Wednesday, Turkiye’s Directorate of Communications Centre for Countering Disinformation issued a statement denying reports that its territory was being used for radicalisation. It said media claims suggesting Turkiye’s logistical, diplomatic or financial support to terrorist groups involved in attacks in India were part of a “malicious disinformation campaign” aimed at harming bilateral ties. The statement added that allegations of Turkiye engaging in radicalisation activities against India or any other country were “purely disinformative and without factual basis.”
