New Delhi: Apple on Tuesday unveiled its iPhone 17 series, priced between Rs 82,900 and Rs 2,29,900, which will hit the Indian market on September 19.

The tech giant also introduced its thinnest iPhone to date – the iPhone Air series – with a sleek 5.6mm thickness and support for eSIMs only.

Apple has discontinued the 128GB storage option for the new models, contributing to the higher starting prices compared to the iPhone 16 series. The iPhone 17 Pro will now start with 256GB, with additional options of 512GB and 1TB, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max will be offered in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and for the first time, 2TB.

“iPhone 17 Pro is the most advanced iPhone ever, featuring a striking new design and powerful capabilities,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook. The Pro series also introduces a new cosmic orange color alongside deep blue and silver.

  • iPhone 17 Pro: Starts at Rs 1,34,900
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: Starts at Rs 1,49,900

Pre-orders for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will open in over 63 countries, including India, from 5 am PDT on Friday, September 12, with availability beginning September 19.

The iPhone 17 will come in lavender, mist blue, sage, white, and black, with storage options of 256GB and 512GB, starting at Rs 82,900. Unlike previous models that included a “Plus” version, the iPhone 17 lineup comprises three models: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The base iPhone 17 offers a 6.3-inch display, slightly larger than the 6.1-inch display of the iPhone 16, and retains 256GB as the minimum storage. Its starting price of Rs 82,900 is lower than the iPhone 16 Plus, which started at Rs 89,900 for the same storage.

Apple’s Vice President of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing, Kaiann Drance, highlighted that the A19 chipset in the iPhone 17 delivers 20% faster performance than iPhone 16, 80% faster than iPhone 15, 90% faster than iPhone 14, and twice the speed of iPhone 13. The device also supports 8 hours more video playback than iPhone 16, and 10 minutes of charging provides up to 8 hours of video playback.

The iPhone Air series offers 256GB to 1TB storage and starts at Rs 1,19,900.

Apple also launched the Apple Watch Ultra 3, featuring built-in satellite communications that allow users to text emergency services, contact friends and family, and share their location even without cellular coverage. Priced at Rs 89,900, pre-orders have begun, with availability in India starting September 19.
