The launch covers the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and the thin iPhone Air models, generating huge excitement across the country. Apple Stores in Saket, Mumbai, and Bengaluru saw fans arriving hours before opening, eager to be among the first to own the latest devices.
The spotlight, however, is on the premium iPhone 17 Pro Max, which is now available in a striking new orange color. While many are attracted to the sleek iPhone Air, most pre-bookings have been for the Pro Max model.
Crowd Chaos at Mumbai Store
The launch was not without incidents. A scuffle broke out at the Apple BKC Store in Mumbai, requiring police intervention. Several individuals were apprehended for disturbing the crowd during the event. Sales officially began at 8 AM, and early buyers shared their excitement about the new features and upgrades.
Irfan from Mumbai, for instance, had been waiting since 8 PM the previous night to purchase the orange iPhone 17 Pro Max, praising its new design and camera improvements. Another buyer, Amaan Menon, revealed he had been anticipating the orange variant for six months since hearing initial leaks. Similar enthusiasm was observed in Delhi, where some buyers upgraded from previous models like the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
High Demand and Market Impact
iPhone launches continue to generate immense demand, with Apple’s aspirational appeal driving strong sales in India. The iPhone 17 series, featuring hardware upgrades and a refreshed design, is expected to further boost Apple’s growth in the country. Notably, the base iPhone 17 now comes with a 120Hz ProMotion display and a starting 256GB storage option, with a modest price increase of Rs 3,000. The iPhone 17 Pro is priced Rs 15,000 higher than last year’s iPhone 16 Pro.
