SRINAGAR: Vice-Chancellor of the Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST), Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, along with Dr. Virendra M. Tiwari, Director of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research-North East Institute of Science & Technology (CSIR-NEIST), met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan.
During the meeting, IUST and CSIR-NEIST formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in research, innovation, and knowledge sharing. The partnership will focus on mountain hydrology and disaster vulnerability in the Himalayas, critical areas that have gained urgency in view of recent climate-related events.
The Lieutenant Governor commended both institutions for this timely initiative, highlighting its potential to enhance scientific research while providing practical solutions to challenges faced by the Himalayan region. He noted that the collaboration would be instrumental in developing innovative strategies to mitigate the impacts of climate change and natural disasters through advancements in science and technology.
The MoU marks a significant step in fostering cooperation between leading institutions, reinforcing their shared commitment to addressing regional and national challenges through research, technology, and innovation.
