JAMMU: The District Administration Jammu, in collaboration with Government Maulana Azad Memorial College, organized a one-day seminar on “Nasha Mukt Bharat to Viksit Bharat”.

Held on the second day of the college’s Induction/Orientation Programme, the event was coordinated by the NCORD Cell and the Student Welfare Committee. The programme began with a welcome address, followed by an interactive session on drug abuse awareness. Speakers highlighted the growing challenge of drug addiction among youth and stressed the need for a multi-pronged approach involving education, awareness, and community engagement. The session focused on equipping students with the knowledge necessary to prevent drug abuse effectively.

Students from the NCC and NSS units later performed a skit promoting the Nasha Mukt Bharat initiative. Medical experts also addressed the gathering, explaining the biological effects of drug use and available medical and psychiatric interventions, including de-addiction and substitute therapies.

The seminar concluded with an Anti-Drug Pledge Ceremony, in which students, staff, and guests participated. Principal Prof. Archana Kaul addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of organizing such awareness programmes in educational institutions.

The event witnessed participation from all college staff, along with representatives from the Social Welfare, Police, and Education departments. Faculty members coordinated the day’s activities, and the programme ended with a vote of thanks.
