ADC Ansuya Jamwal reviews Gurupurab arrangements in Jammu
JAMMU: Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ansuya Jamwal, today chaired a meeting to review and strengthen the arrangements for Gurupurab celebrations scheduled for November 5, marking the birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
The ADC emphasized the need for foolproof security measures, directing the Police and Traffic departments to remain alert and ensure smooth conduct of the celebrations. Police authorities were instructed to sanitize key routes leading to Gurudwaras to facilitate hassle-free movement of devotees, while the Traffic Police were asked to frame an effective traffic regulation plan and earmark parking zones to prevent congestion around religious places.
Highlighting the importance of cleanliness and sanitation, the ADC directed the Jammu Municipal Corporation and other local bodies to maintain hygienic conditions in and around Gurudwaras. Departments were asked to deploy water tankers, fire tenders, mobile toilets, dustbins, and ensure sprinkling of water as part of the action plan. She also stressed ensuring uninterrupted power and water supply during the festival.
Detailed discussions were held on barricading, illumination, medical aid, firefighting, and emergency response systems. The ADC called for strong inter-departmental coordination to ensure a swift and efficient response to any situation.
The Food, Civil Supplies, and Legal Metrology departments were directed to monitor the quality and prices of essential commodities to prevent overpricing and adulteration. Sub Divisional Magistrates were instructed to supervise preparations in their respective areas and report compliance to the district administration.
The meeting was attended by SP Vivek Shekhar, ACG Sania Haq Khan, Tehsildars Aman Kumar Anand and Paramdeep Singh, besides officers from line departments and representatives of religious organizations.
