JAMMU: The two day philately exhibition named JammuPex-2024— organized by the Department of Posts, showcasing history and cultural heritage of Jammu through postal stamps ended today at the Kala Kendra Jammu.
On the day two of the philately exhibition, a special postal cover of Shri Ranbir Higher Secondary School, Jammu was released by Director Postal Services Sh. Prateek in the presence of Principal of Ranbir Higher Secondary School, Satya Bushan Raina.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal of Ranbir School S B Raina expressed gratitude to the Department of Posts for bringing out special postal cover on the school which is one among the oldest educational institutions in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
On the closing day winners of Stamp designing and Quiz contest were announced with Nandini Chib of APS Domana clinching the first position, Emanat Kour of Caramel convent School, Kunjwani securing second and Amrinder Singh Randhawa of Air Force School Satwari third in place .
In the quiz competition students of Caramel Convent School, Kunjwani bagged first place, followed by BSF School Paloura and DPS Nagabani.
A spell bound cultural program by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) on Dogra culture marked the end of the event.
Regional Passport Officer Rajesh Kumar was chief guest at the concluding event while Dr. Ankush Bhagat SSPO’s Jammu presented vote of thanks.
It is pertinent to mention here that more than 5000 rare and varied stamps issued in India and in other countries have been put for display at the exhibition. Some of these stamps are from the colonial period.
