Jammu: The Jammu division of Northern Railways has announced the operation of two local passenger trains between Katra and Sangaldan from September 8 to 12 to facilitate stranded passengers, an official said on Saturday.

Train services across Jammu and Kashmir have been severely affected since August 26 following heavy rains and flash floods. So far, Northern Railways has restored 21 trains. However, many passengers remain stranded in Reasi and Ramban districts due to road closures.

The special passenger trains will run via Reasi, Bakkal, and Dugga stations, officials confirmed.

Meanwhile, the Jammu-Katra shuttle service remained suspended for the third consecutive day on Saturday after a landslide blocked the track between Ramnagar and Manwal in the Jammu-Udhampur section. The service, which began on September 1 and was scheduled till September 15, had to be cancelled due to the landslide triggered by heavy rains.

Efforts are underway to clear the debris and restore operations on the affected stretch, the official added.
