SRINAGAR: Today, several delegations from across the Valley met Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, at the Civil Secretariat.
The delegations highlighted pressing local issues, including irregular water supply, challenges in forest conservation, and concerns related to tribal welfare, particularly regarding the implementation and settlement under the Forest Rights Act.
Minister Rana listened attentively to each delegation and noted their concerns. Stressing the Government’s commitment to transparent and responsive governance, he directed the relevant departments to take immediate action. He assured the delegations that all genuine issues would be addressed within a defined timeframe, with particular focus on resolving matters under the Forest Rights Act to protect the rights and welfare of tribal communities.
The Minister reaffirmed the Omar Abdullah Government’s dedication to working closely with local communities to promote inclusive development, environmental conservation, and equitable access to essential services across the region.
