SRINAGAR: Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Cooperatives, and Election Departments, Javid Ahmad Dar, participated in a virtual meeting on the advance release of the 21st instalment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan).
The meeting was chaired by Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, along with Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh. During the event, the Union Ministers released the advance 21st instalment of PM-Kisan to all eligible farmers, including approximately 8.55 lakh beneficiaries from Jammu and Kashmir.
The Union Ministers also announced financial assistance of ₹1.40 lakh for damaged houses, with an additional ₹30,000 per household, totaling ₹1.70 lakh.
Javid Dar described the release of the 21st instalment as a significant step in providing financial support to farmers and boosting agricultural growth in J&K, especially in the aftermath of recent floods. “This initiative reflects the close coordination between the Agriculture Production Department (APD), under the guidance of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and the Union Government,” he said.
He added that the timely release of funds would provide much-needed relief to farmers, helping them revive agricultural activities and rebuild livelihoods. Highlighting the ongoing collaboration between the J&K and central governments, he emphasized their shared commitment to supporting the agricultural sector and fostering overall development in the region.
Javid Dar also requested the Union Ministers to consider a special package for Jammu and Kashmir to address the region’s unique agricultural challenges, as previously discussed during the Union Minister’s visit to Jammu.
Additional Chief Secretary, APD, Shailendra Kumar; Secretary Technical APD, G.A. Sofi; Director Agriculture Kashmir, Sartaj Ahmad Shah; and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
