SRINAGAR: Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development, and Panchayati Raj, Javid Ahmad Dar, participated today in a virtual meeting with Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The discussions centered on key agricultural issues, including fertilizer availability, crop losses, and initiatives such as the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan and the National Mission on Natural Farming.
The Union Minister highlighted the importance of ensuring timely delivery of fertilizers to farmers, warning that strict action will be taken against those involved in black marketing of fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides. He urged Principal Secretaries to encourage farmers to adopt natural and organic farming practices. Accurate data on crop damage was also emphasized, with proper surveys to ensure farmers receive timely compensation.
He further stated that the approved list of fertilizers will be published to keep farmers informed about substandard products. All State Agricultural Ministers have been invited to attend the upcoming Rabi Conference scheduled for September 15–16, 2025.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary of the Agriculture Production Department, Shailendra Kumar, Director of Agriculture Kashmir, Sartaj Ahmad Shah, and other senior officials.
