SRINAGAR: Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Cooperative, and Election Departments, Javid Ahmad Dar, today chaired a review meeting on the progress of ongoing projects and works in the Municipal Committee (MC) Watergam at the Civil Secretariat.
During the meeting, the Minister highlighted the need to accelerate ongoing projects, enhance transparency, and ensure accountability for optimal utilization of resources. He urged officials to deploy unused funds for development works in accordance with guidelines to benefit the public.
Javid Dar reaffirmed the J&K Government’s commitment to making the Union Territory prosperous under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Commissioner Secretary, H&UDD, Mandeep Kaur, briefed the Minister on key developments and upcoming initiatives aimed at transforming the urban landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.


The discussions covered ongoing and new projects under the Capex Budget 2025-26 in MC Watergam, including:
Construction of an Office Complex near Town Hall Watergam
Open Air Gym Park at Gund Mulraj, Ward No. 11
Development of footpaths, tiling, and cobblestone work at multiple locations
Parking Place and Transport Yard at MC Watergam
Inner link development across various wards
Macadamization of inner links
The meeting also noted progress on the Drainage Sector at D/S Gund Kareem Khan (SASCI Project) and the construction of a deep drain in Wards 1 & 3.
The Minister urged officials to coordinate closely to ensure comprehensive development in MC Watergam. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sopore; Deputy Director (E&S) Urban Local Bodies Kashmir; Executive Engineer PWD (R&B); Executive Officer MC Watergam; and other concerned officers.
