Javid Dar visits Kissan Ghar in Kolkata to review progress of ongoing renovation and upgradation works

KOLKATA: Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Cooperative, and Election Departments, Javid Ahmad Dar, today visited Kissan Ghar Kolkata to review the progress of ongoing renovation and upgradation works at the facility.

During the visit, the Minister inspected various sections of Kissan Ghar, a key support hub for farmers from Jammu and Kashmir. He directed the concerned officers to accelerate the renovation work to ensure timely completion and readiness for growers from the Union Territory.

He further instructed that Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) be prepared for all pending works to transform Kissan Ghar into a state-of-the-art commercial facility equipped with modern amenities. The Minister emphasized that the facility should provide comprehensive services and support to farmers, enabling them to access better markets and infrastructure while in Kolkata.

Later, Minister Dar also visited the cold storage facility at Chingrihata, built on four kanals of land, where civil works have already been completed. He directed the executing agency to expedite the mechanical installations so the facility can be operational soon, facilitating the marketing of horticulture produce from Jammu and Kashmir.

The Minister was accompanied by Director of Horticulture Marketing and Planning, Ghulam Jeelani Zargar, along with other senior officers of the J&K Government.
