Jitesh Sharma to lead India ‘A’ in Rising Stars Asia Cup; 14-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi earns maiden call-up
Mumbai: The Senior Men’s Selection Committee on Tuesday announced the India ‘A’ squad for the Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) Rising Stars Asia Cup, scheduled to be held in Qatar from November 14 to 23 at the West End International Cricket Stadium in Doha.
The tournament will feature eight teams divided into two groups — Group A includes Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, and Sri Lanka, while India ‘A’ are placed in Group B alongside Oman, UAE, and Pakistan ‘A’.
Wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma has been named captain of the India ‘A’ side, with Punjab all-rounder Naman Dhir serving as his deputy.
The squad includes 14-year-old batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who earns his maiden call-up after a string of record-breaking performances. Sooryavanshi recently struck the fourth-fastest Youth Test century — a 78-ball ton against Australia U19 — and also set a new record for the most career sixes in Youth ODIs during the same series in September.
Joining him is IPL 2025 breakout star Priyansh Arya, who impressed on debut for Punjab Kings earlier this year.
