Rajouri: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday registered a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case against a Naib Tehsildar (Election) posted at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Rajouri.
According to sources, the ACB has filed an FIR No. 05/2025 under Section 5(1)(e) read with 5(2) of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act, Svt. 2006, at Police Station ACB Doda, against Surjit Singh, Naib Tehsildar (Election) presently serving at the DC Office Rajouri.
“The case was registered after a detailed verification into allegations that the officer had amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income,” the ACB statement said. “The inquiry revealed that the accused possessed substantial assets in the form of immovable and movable properties held in his name as well as in the names of his family members.”
The ACB found that Singh had accumulated a double-storey house in Ramban district, a large bank balance including fixed deposits, LIC policies, a Swift car, expensive household items, electronic gadgets, and jewellery, among other assets.
“The expenditure incurred and the value of assets acquired were found grossly disproportionate to his legitimate income,” the statement added.
Following this, the Bureau obtained search warrants from the Court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Doda. Searches were carried out at the accused’s residential premises located at (1) Maitra, District Ramban, (2) Janipur, Jammu, and (3) the residential quarter at DC Colony, Rajouri, in the presence of Magistrates and independent witnesses.
Further investigation into the case is underway, the ACB said.
