Srinagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Srinagar has registered a case against a police officer accused of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.
According to an official statement, FIR No. 20/2025 was filed at ACB Police Station Srinagar against Peer Zada Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, son of Peer Zada Mohammad Akber Shah, a resident of Wahabpora, Budgam. Shah, who was serving as a cashier at the District Police Office (DPO) Bandipora, is alleged to have acquired substantial assets in his name and that of his family members during his service period.
The ACB’s verification revealed that Shah and his family possessed several properties and assets that could not be accounted for through legitimate income sources. These include:
Landholdings measuring about three kanals and six marlas in Budgam district, including one kanal and 14 marlas at Shahpora Wathora, Budgam.
A double-storey palatial house with an attic at Ompora Colony, Budgam.
Bank deposits totalling approximately ₹48.26 lakh across various accounts.
Multiple vehicles registered in the names of the officer and his family members.
Educational expenses of nearly ₹40 lakh for his children studying in reputed institutions.
Significant spending on foreign travel and insurance premiums.
The bureau said searches were carried out at several locations linked to the accused in Budgam, leading to the seizure of incriminating documents and materials for detailed examination.
The ACB added that further investigation into the case is ongoing.
