Jammu: Emphasizing the importance of embracing swadeshi products and promoting atma nirbharta in everyday life as India marches toward becoming the world’s third-largest economy, Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief Sat Sharma on Wednesday announced a three-month outreach campaign aimed at transforming the initiative into a mass movement.

Sharma described recent GST reforms as a significant step in encouraging local production and creating a conducive environment for indigenous businesses. “India’s journey to the third-largest economy relies on the adoption of swadeshi products and atma nirbharta in daily life,” he told reporters.

He urged citizens to integrate this approach in homes and workplaces. “BJP cadres will cover every sector over the next three months to turn this campaign into a people-driven movement,” Sharma said. He stressed the importance of maximizing the use of locally made products, reducing dependency on imports, strengthening domestic industries, boosting exports, and fostering national prosperity.

Sharma further called for promoting swadeshi products, embracing khadi in daily life, and initiating this mission within households and communities. On the occasion of Mahanavami, he extended greetings and wished for peace, prosperity, and harmony in J-K.

Detailing the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan, Sharma noted that the campaign began on September 25, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay’s birth anniversary, and will continue until December 25, the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He highlighted that the campaign focuses on the Vocal for Local mission, which is crucial for achieving genuine self-reliance. “True atma nirbharta depends on the participation of villages, women, farmers, youth, and the underprivileged. Our goal is a self-sufficient Bharat,” he said.

Sharma recalled that the BJP’s commitment to self-reliance dates back to the Bharatiya Jana Sangh era, with Upadhyay advocating decentralization and swadeshi promotion. The Covid-19 pandemic, he said, marked a turning point, as India developed vaccines, masks, ventilators, and medicines, exporting them to nearly 100 countries—demonstrating modern atma nirbharta.

He added, “Today, it is time to reclaim our rightful place as a global economic leader.” Referring to Operation Sindoor, Sharma described it as a testament to India’s indigenous technology and self-reliance.

“India is now the world’s fourth-largest economy, with a GDP surpassing $4 trillion, and we are moving swiftly toward the third spot. This progress is the result of strengthened self-reliance and the Vocal for Local campaign,” he said, noting that the BJP is executing this mission under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance.

Sharma again emphasized that the recent GST changes mark a significant milestone in promoting local production and fostering a supportive ecosystem for domestic businesses.
