Security forces launched an extensive search operation in several villages of Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, following reports of suspicious movement in the area, officials said.

The operation began around midnight on Thursday and continued into the day, with joint teams from the 49 Rashtriya Rifles of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Special Operations Group conducting cordon-and-search operations. The focus was on villages between the Thanamandi and Manjakote subdivisions.

Based on intelligence reports, security personnel sealed off multiple villages and conducted thorough searches. With daylight, operations intensified in areas including Behrote Gali and nearby localities.

Forces checked homes, farmlands, and surrounding areas to locate any suspicious individuals or potential threats. So far, there have been no reports of encounters or any violence during the operation.

The search comes as part of ongoing security measures in sensitive border districts of Rajouri, which lie close to the Line of Control. Officials have asked local residents to cooperate with security forces and report any unusual activity while carrying on with their daily routines.

Further updates from the ongoing operation are awaited.
