Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case of disproportionate assets against a government employee posted at the office of the Deputy District Election Officer in Rajouri district, officials said on Thursday.

According to officials, the case was filed under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act following a verification that revealed the official had accumulated assets far beyond his known sources of income.

The investigation found that the accused owned a double-storey house in Ramban district, maintained substantial bank deposits, including fixed deposits and LIC policies, and possessed a car, expensive household items, electronic gadgets, and jewellery.

Officials said the value of the properties and assets acquired was disproportionate to the income he earned through legitimate means.

During the investigation, the ACB obtained a search warrant from the Court of the Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Doda. Searches were carried out at the accused’s residences in Maitra (Ramban), Janipur (Jammu), and a residential quarter in Rajouri, in the presence of magistrates and independent witnesses, they added.
