J&K Police apprehend two drug peddlers with charas-like substance

Srinagar: In separate operations, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two alleged drug peddlers and seized a significant quantity of narcotics in Budgam and Shopian districts, officials said on Sunday.

Acting on specific intelligence, a police team set up a checkpoint at Naghard in Shopian’s Wachi area and intercepted a drug peddler identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Pombia, Kulgam. During the search, officials recovered 101 grams of a charas-like substance from his possession.

In Budgam district, police arrested Moomin Qadir Dhobi, a resident of Dharambugh, Kralpora, from the Checkpora Kralpora area and recovered 112 grams of a charas-like substance.

In a separate action in Shopian, police recovered a substantial quantity of narcotics from a house in Zainapora. Acting on specific information, authorities registered a case under the NDPS Act and obtained a search warrant. A team, accompanied by an executive magistrate, raided the residence of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh of Humhuna Nagbal. During the search, police seized 1 kg of charas-like substance along with a grinder machine used to process the narcotics.

The accused is currently absconding, and efforts are underway to apprehend him, officials added.
