J&K Police Attach Properties of Four Drug Peddlers in Srinagar and Pulwama
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday attached properties belonging to four drug peddlers, including a woman, in Srinagar and Pulwama districts, an official spokesperson said.
In Srinagar, police seized a residential property and a piece of land worth around ₹75 lakh under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The attached assets include a shared double-storey house and 2.5 marlas (1 marla = 272.25 sq ft) of shared land located at Kenihama, B. K. Pora, Nowgam.
According to revenue records, the property is registered in the name of the father of Parwaiz Ahmad Ganie alias Pawa, who is currently lodged in Kathua Jail under the Public Safety Act (PSA). Parwaiz is an accused in FIR No. 128/2022 registered under Sections 8, 22, and 29 of the NDPS Act at Nowgam Police Station.
Investigations confirmed that Parwaiz holds ownership rights to one room in the residential house and 2.5 marlas of land, making him an active stakeholder. Consequently, the property was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act. The owner is now legally prohibited from selling, leasing, or modifying the property, or creating any third-party interest in it.
In Pulwama’s Awantipora area, police also attached properties belonging to three known drug peddlers. Two single-storey houses, collectively valued at approximately ₹18 lakh, were seized from Muzaffar Ahmad Shalla of Karewa Jablipora, Bijbehara, and Javid Ahmad Ganie of Gund Baba Khalil, Naina Sangam.
An inquiry revealed that these properties were acquired using proceeds from the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. Multiple FIRs are registered against both accused, who are currently lodged in Pulwama District Sub-Jail.
In a separate action, police attached a double-storey house worth about ₹73 lakh belonging to Fareeda Akhter of Larkipora, a notorious woman drug peddler. Investigations found that the property was purchased using earnings from illegal drug trade. Fareeda is also named in several FIRs.
