J&K Showcases Tourism Potential at State/UT Tourism Ministers’ Conference in Udaipur

UDAIPUR,: Jammu and Kashmir actively participated in the two-day State and Union Territory Tourism Ministers’ Conference held in Udaipur on October 14 and 15, 2025. The J&K delegation was led by Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, and included Dr. Vikas Gupta, Director Tourism Jammu; Waseem Raja, Joint Director Tourism Kashmir; and Arif Lone, Assistant Director Tourism Jammu.

Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani delivered a detailed presentation showcasing J&K’s immense tourism potential and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to developing the Union Territory into a vibrant, all-season tourist destination.

The presentation spotlighted major destinations including Gulmarg, Sonmarg, Gurez, and the ‘Sukrala Devi–Shiv Khori–Machail Mata & Sarthal Devi–Kheer Bhawani’ pilgrimage circuit, proposed for development under the Budget Announcement Initiatives. Emphasis was laid on enhancing infrastructure, improving connectivity, and enriching visitor experiences to promote adventure, heritage, wellness, and spiritual tourism across the region.

The conference brought together Tourism Ministers, Secretaries, and senior officials from across India to deliberate on strategies for destination development and sustainable tourism growth.

Union Minister of Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who inaugurated the event, underscored the importance of Centre-State collaboration in strengthening India’s tourism ecosystem and positioning the country as a leading global travel destination.

The two-day event served as a crucial platform for sharing best practices, forging partnerships, and aligning regional tourism strategies with national priorities, aimed at boosting tourism-led economic growth and employment generation across India.
