New Delhi: To strengthen weather forecasting and disaster preparedness in flood-hit Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) will install four additional Doppler weather radars under Mission Mausam, raising the total number in the region to seven.

Union Minister of State for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh, announced the decision during a high-level review meeting on the flood situation. Senior officials including Dr. M. Ravichandran, Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences, and Dr. M. Mohapatra, DG IMD, were present.
